Summer Sales Boost PS5 Game Sales, Lego Star Wars Remains at the Top of the UK Boxed Charts

The UK boxed charts saw a resurgence in PS5 game sales this week, driven by summer promotions and competitive pricing. According to GfK's report, four of the top ten best-selling boxed games had their PS5 editions leading the way, with the exclusive Gran Turismo rounding out the top ten at No. 10. The top three spots remained unchanged from the previous week, with Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga holding the top spot despite a 32% decline in sales. The PS5 version of the game outsold the next closest platform, the Nintendo Switch, by almost double. FIFA 23 retained its No. 2 spot with a 33% decrease in sales, interestingly being the only third-party game to sell more on the Switch than any other platform. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe followed at No. 3, experiencing a 24% drop in sales, while Zelda moved up to No. 4 with a 19% decline. Grand Theft Auto 5 jumped five places to No. 5, driven by a 6% increase in sales, with 60% of those sales coming from the PS5 version. A price promotion helped Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate re-enter the top ten at No. 9, despite a 5% decrease in sales. Meanwhile, God of War: Ragnarök fell out of the top ten, dropping from No. 6 to No. 14 with a 50% decline in sales. In contrast, Red Dead Redemption 2 climbed from No. 36 to No. 16, benefiting from a 60% increase in sales. New release Atlas Fallen debuted at No. 22 in the UK boxed charts. Additionally, three games re-entered the lower end of the charts: Pokemon Scarlet at No. 37, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at No. 38, and Five Nights At Freddy's Security Breach at No. 39.
