Netflix Introduces Mobile App for Game Controllers

Netflix has unveiled a dedicated game controller application, currently exclusive to the App Store for iOS users, hinting at the potential development of its cloud gaming platform. This new app enables subscribers to engage in gaming experiences on their television sets using an intuitive gamepad interface. Upon launching a game, users are prompted to establish a connection but are met with a 'Netflix Games on TV are in beta' message, indicating possible limitations in device compatibility. As yet, no official release date has been announced for when the app will be fully compatible with TV devices. Following the introduction of its cloud gaming ambitions last October, Netflix's Vice President of Gaming, Mike Verdu, underscored the company's cautious approach to this new venture, emphasizing a humble and thoughtful strategy to expand its gaming offerings across various devices.
