Nexon Sees 12% Revenue Increase in Q2

Nexon, the developer of MapleStory, has announced its Q2 earnings, revealing a revenue of $649 million, which represents a 12% increase from the previous year. The key highlights for the quarter ending June 30, 2023, include: - A revenue of ¥94 billion ($649 million), marking a 12% year-on-year increase - An operating income of ¥27.6 billion ($191 million), up 22% year-on-year - A net income of ¥24.5 billion ($169 million), down 7% year-on-year The PC gaming segment generated ¥65 billion ($449 million) in revenue, an 18% increase from the previous year, accounting for 69% of Nexon's total Q2 revenue. The mobile division saw a revenue of ¥29 billion ($200 million), representing a 2% year-over-year growth, and comprising 31% of the company's Q2 revenue. According to Owen Mahoney, President and CEO of Nexon, 'Nexon achieved its fifth consecutive quarter of double-digit top-line growth, with a 22% year-over-year increase in operating income. Our second quarter was driven by the strong performances of FIFA Online 4, FIFA Mobile, Wars of Prasia, HIT2, Blue Archive, and growing player engagement in MapleStory and Dungeon Fighter.' The quarter also saw a notable performance from Dave the Diver, developed by Nexon's subsidiary studio Mintrocket, which reached one million sales in July, just weeks after its release on June 28. Looking ahead, Nexon projects a total revenue of ¥110 billion ($760 million) to ¥120 billion ($829 million) for Q3, driven by the PC segment's performance, which is expected to be fueled by titles such as Dave the Diver, MapleStory, and Wars of Prasia. The company anticipates that its mobile division's revenue will remain flat year-over-year.
