Electronic Arts to Discontinue Online Support for Additional Games

By year's end, Electronic Arts will discontinue online support for several of its older games. The company has updated its list of games undergoing online service shutdowns, with Crysis 3, Dante's Inferno, and Dead Space 2 being the latest additions, as reported by PureXbox. Crysis 3's online services will cease on September 7, impacting multiplayer functionality across PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Steam, and the EA application. Meanwhile, Dante's Inferno and Dead Space 2 will see their servers shut down on December 8, with Dante's Inferno's online services on PS3, PSP, and Xbox 360, and Dead Space 2's services on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, being affected. GamesIndustry.biz sought clarification from EA regarding the continued availability of these titles on digital platforms but did not receive a response prior to publication. In March, Electronic Arts had removed Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield Bad Company 1 and 2 from digital stores in anticipation of their online services being terminated in December.
