Evo 2023 Attracts Over 9,000 Competitors from Around the Globe

The 2023 Evolution Championship Series, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, from August 4 to August 6, saw a record-breaking 9,182 registered players from 71 countries. Street Fighter 6, developed by Capcom, was the most popular game at the event, with 7,081 players competing in its tournament. According to Rick Thiher, Evo's general manager, this year's event marked a significant milestone, solidifying Evo's position as a premier gathering for fighting game enthusiasts. The event brought together players and fans from different generations, all united by their passion for the fighting game genre. The winners of the various tournaments included Amjad "Angrybird" Alshalabi for Street Fighter 6, William "Leffen" Hjelte for Guilty Gear Strive, and Arslan Ash for Tekken 7, among others. The dates for Evo 2024 were also announced, with Evo Japan scheduled to take place from April 27 to April 29, and the main event returning to Las Vegas from July 26 to July 28.
