Inworld AI Secures $50 Million in Funding for Open-Source Character Creation Platform
Inworld AI has successfully raised an additional $50 million in funding, led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from notable investors including Stanford University, Samsung Next, Microsoft's M12 Fund, First Spark Ventures, and LG Technology Ventures. The newly acquired funds will be allocated towards research and development, talent acquisition, infrastructure investment, and the launch of an open-source iteration of the company's Character Engine. This cutting-edge engine is designed to create characters that exhibit realistic emotions and dialogue, thereby populating virtual worlds with non-player characters that respond and act in a convincingly realistic manner. According to the company, this latest funding round propels Inworld AI's valuation to over $500 million. Michael Ermolenko, the company's CTO and co-founder, emphasized Inworld AI's dedication to open-source development, stating that collaborative efforts with the open-source community will drive innovation in generative AI and elevate the gaming industry as a whole. This development follows the company's previous funding round, which secured $10 million under the leadership of Bitkraft Ventures.
