GameStop Abandons Cryptocurrency Wallet Support

GameStop has announced that it will discontinue support for cryptocurrency wallets, marking a significant reversal of its earlier efforts to expand into the crypto space. According to a report by Bloomberg, this decision is a major setback for the company's crypto ambitions, which were spearheaded by Chairman Ryan Cohen. In its statement, GameStop cited the uncertain regulatory environment of the cryptocurrency sector as the reason for removing its iOS and Chrome Extension wallets from the market, effective November 1, 2023. This development comes a year after the launch of the company's NFT marketplace. Recently, GameStop has undergone other significant changes, including the resignation of its CFO, Diana Saadeh-Jajeh, and the termination of CEO Matt Furlong by the board of directors, who has yet to be replaced.
