The software segment accounted for $4 billion of this total, marking a 7% year-over-year increase. Meanwhile, gaming hardware sales experienced a substantial 22% boost, generating $454 million in revenue - the highest June total for video game hardware spending since 2008, when it reached $617 million. The PlayStation 5 console led the way in both unit and dollar sales for the month, maintaining its position as the top-performing system in the 2023 hardware market. Accessory sales also saw a notable 14% increase, totaling $214 million, with the PlayStation 5 Dual Sense Edge Wireless Controller Black emerging as the best-selling peripheral in terms of dollar sales.
