Report: Nintendo's Next-Gen Console to Debut in Late 2024
According to recent reports, Nintendo is on track to unveil its latest console in the latter half of 2024. This news emerges from sources close to the matter, as reported by VGC, and is corroborated by Eurogamer's own predictions. The upcoming console is said to retain the portability of its predecessor, the Nintendo Switch, featuring an LCD screen and a cartridge slot for physical games. Additionally, developer kits have been disseminated to partner studios, as confirmed by VGC. However, it remains uncertain whether the new console will support backward compatibility. In a statement made in June, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa expressed the company's desire to facilitate a seamless transition for consumers to the next-generation console, potentially hinting at backward compatibility. Furukawa emphasized the importance of allowing customers to 'smoothly transition while still utilizing their Nintendo Accounts' during the shift from the Nintendo Switch to the next console.
