GameStop Experiences CFO Departure
GameStop is currently without a CEO and will soon be without a CFO, as Diana Saadeh-Jajeh has announced her resignation, set to take effect on August 11. Saadeh-Jajeh's tenure as CFO has lasted just over a year, having taken on the role during a period of significant restructuring in July of the previous year, which also saw the departure of her predecessor, Mike Recupero. Recupero, like Saadeh-Jajeh, held the CFO position for approximately one year, as part of a series of executive hires from Amazon aimed at transforming GameStop into a tech-focused business. Following Saadeh-Jajeh's departure, Daniel Moore, the company's current VP and corporate global controller, will assume the roles of principal accounting officer and interim principal financial officer. Moore has been with GameStop since 2021 and previously served as VP of tax at Elevate Textiles. The company's board of directors recently terminated the contract of CEO Matt Furlong in June, coinciding with the appointment of Ryan Cohen as executive chairman, and has yet to announce a replacement. Cohen, who was elected to the board by shareholders in January 2020, played a key role in devising the company's technology business strategy, which was implemented shortly before the company's notable meme stock rally.
