Capcom Sees $313m in Q1 Sales, Fueled by Street Fighter 6 and Resident Evil 4

Capcom has unveiled its financial report for the first quarter of its fiscal year, highlighting the significant impact of its recent releases. The company's net sales have surged by 74% year-over-year to ¥43.8 billion ($313 million), driven primarily by the success of Street Fighter 6 and the Resident Evil 4 remake. Key figures for the quarter ending June 30, 2023, include the impressive performance of Street Fighter 6, which has sold over 2 million units since its release on June 2. The Resident Evil 4 remake, which launched at the end of the previous fiscal year with 3.73 million copies sold in its first week, has now reached a total of 4.95 million units sold after adding 1.2 million more in the current quarter. Additionally, the MegaMan Battle Network Legacy Collection Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 has achieved sales of 1.32 million since its launch in April 2023. Catalogue title sales have also seen a boost, thanks to price promotions for games such as Monster Hunter Rise and Resident Evil 2, resulting in 9.8 million units sold - a nearly 9% increase from the previous year. Overall, Capcom has reported sales of 13.5 million units in the first quarter, representing a 15% increase from the same period last year. The digital contents division, which encompasses the company's video games, has seen a 91% year-over-year increase in sales to ¥37.9 billion ($270.3 million), with an operating income of ¥24.7 billion ($176.2 million), up 97%. Furthermore, the amusement equipment business has experienced ongoing demand for Shin Onimusha and Monster World: Iceborne pachinko machines, leading to a 38.2% year-over-year increase in net sales to ¥898 million ($6.4 million). Capcom is looking to build on its current quarter results with the upcoming multiplayer shooter Exoprimal, which has already attracted one million players since its release on July 14.
