August 2024 Release Date Set for Borderlands Movie

The film adaptation of Borderlands is scheduled to arrive in theaters on August 9, 2024. According to Deadline, the screenplay was co-written by Eli Roth, known for his work on Hostel and Cabin Fever, and Joe Crombie. There was speculation that Joe Crombie might be a pseudonym used by Craig Mazin, the creator of Chernobyl and co-creator of the Last of Us TV series, but Variety has debunked this rumor after speaking with Mazin directly. Mazin stated, 'I am not a credited writer on the film, so I cannot claim any kind of authorship of Borderlands, much less 'co-writing'.' He also denied using a pseudonym, saying, 'If the name in question is indeed a pseudonym, all I can say is… it’s not mine.' Initially, it was reported in 2020 that Mazin was involved in the film, with The Hollywood Reporter stating that he had written the script when Eli Roth was announced as the director. The Borderlands film was first announced in 2015, and it boasts a star-studded cast, including Cate Blanchett, Edgar Ramirez, Kevin Hart, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jack Black, among others.
