Former Robot Teddy and Foampunch Team Members Launch Creature Studio

Veterans of the gaming industry from Robot Teddy and Foampunch have collaborated to establish a new company, Creature, specializing in mixed-reality experiences. Founded in January 2023 by Doug North Cook, former VP at Robot Teddy, the studio will operate as both a game developer and an independent publishing label, providing support services such as business development, production consulting, and release strategy. The founding team includes Doug North Cook, Chris Hanney, Abbey Cooper, and Rose Gerber, with Hanney serving as production director, Cooper as COO, and Gerber as director of marketing communications. As a developer, Creature is currently working on an unannounced mixed-reality game. The company has already secured partnerships with prominent studios, including Funktronic Labs, Neat Corporation, and Thomas Van Bouwel, the creator of Cubism and the upcoming Laser Dance. According to Cook, the goal of Creature is to empower artists, designers, and developers in creating innovative experiences, with a focus on trust, transparency, and quality to drive the industry forward and enable developers to build sustainable studios.
