European Video Game Sales See 20% Increase in June, Driven by Diablo 4

According to the latest GSD data, European video game sales experienced a significant 20% increase in June, with 15.5 million games sold across the continent. This surge was largely driven by the release of major new titles, including Diablo 4, which comfortably took the top spot as the best-selling game of the month. Diablo 4 also became the second fastest-selling game of the year, behind Hogwarts Legacy. The game's success was evident across various platforms, with over 66% of sales on PC, 21% on PS5, and 9% on Xbox Series S and X. In contrast, Square Enix's Final Fantasy 16 saw a 24% decline in sales compared to the last major Final Fantasy game, Final Fantasy 7: Remake, in 2020. Other notable new releases included F1 23 from EA, which saw a disappointing launch with sales down 47% compared to F1 22, and Street Fighter 6, which debuted at number nine in the June charts. The PS5 continued to dominate the European market, with a 116% increase in sales, reclaiming its position as the top-selling console. In terms of accessories, Sony's DualSense controller led the way, with a 6.6% increase in sales, followed by the Xbox Wireless controller, which saw a significant boost due to the launch of a special edition Starfield version.
