The acquisition was announced by Lucid Games through a Twitter post, stating that the studio will maintain its creative independence while leveraging the global resources and technological expertise of LightSpeed Studios. The financial details of the acquisition remain undisclosed by both parties. Lucid Games has a notable portfolio, having worked on titles such as Sea of Thieves, Apex Legends, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, in addition to its upcoming collaboration with Inflexion Games on the game Nightingale. As a subsidiary of Tencent Games, LightSpeed Studios has primarily focused on mobile gaming, with titles like Undawn, Apex Legends Mobile, and PUBG Mobile under its belt. This acquisition marks a significant expansion of LightSpeed Studios' capabilities, particularly following the establishment of LightSpeed LA in 2020, which aims to develop AAA console games for next-generation platforms.
