Arm Holdings in Discussions with Nvidia as Key Investor Prior to Public Offering

According to reports, Arm Holdings is engaged in negotiations with Nvidia to secure the company's participation as a key investor ahead of its initial public offering. Citing sources familiar with the matter, the Financial Times reports that Arm plans to list on a New York stock exchange, potentially as soon as September. The ongoing discussions center around Arm's valuation, with the SoftBank-owned semiconductor manufacturer aiming for an investment that would value the company at approximately $80 billion, whereas Nvidia is seeking a valuation between $35 billion and $40 billion. The Financial Times notes that the talks are ongoing and may not necessarily result in an investment. A source revealed to the publication that, with Nvidia's potential investment, Arm intends to position artificial intelligence as a central component of its growth strategy. The previously proposed acquisition of Arm by Nvidia was abandoned last year due to regulatory hurdles. The $40 billion deal was initially announced in September 2020. Following the collapse of the acquisition, Arm reduced its workforce by up to 960 employees in March 2022, representing around 15% of its global staff. SoftBank initially acquired Arm in 2016 for £24 billion.
