Code Coven Introduces Studio Accreditation Initiative

Code Coven has launched a pioneering studio accreditation program, Evolve, in collaboration with GamesIndustry.biz. The program strives to establish a benchmark for accountability within the gaming industry, promoting best practices for diversity, equity, and inclusion. To achieve accreditation, studios undergo a comprehensive evaluation process, which includes an in-depth questionnaire assessing various aspects such as benefits, compensation, and representation. This thorough assessment also involves consulting with employees to gauge their workplace experience. Upon completion, accredited studios receive a detailed report, including the employee survey results and actionable recommendations for improving their diversity, equity, and inclusion policies. GamesIndustry.biz will feature accredited studios on their job board, providing a platform for industry recognition. East Side Games, a Vancouver-based studio, has become the first to achieve Evolve accreditation, with their director of people and culture, Julie Yang, stating: "Participating in the Code Coven Studio Accreditation Program demonstrates our dedication to fostering equity, diversity, and inclusion within our organization and the broader gaming community." Code Coven co-CEO Cinzia Musio added: "This initiative marks the beginning of genuine accountability in the industry. With the support of studios, we can drive meaningful change and create a more inclusive environment. This accreditation program is a groundbreaking step towards a more equitable gaming industry."
