Sega Rejects Acquisition Rumors Amid Microsoft Speculation

Following recent speculation about a potential acquisition by Microsoft, Sega has denied any plans to sell. The rumors emerged after documents from the FTC vs Microsoft case revealed that Sega was among over 100 companies considered for acquisition by Microsoft before it pursued Activision Blizzard. Despite this, co-chief operating officer Shuji Utsumi has stated that Sega is not open to acquisition talks at present. Utsumi emphasized the company's strong relationship with Xbox, describing it as closer than its ties with Nintendo and PlayStation. Sega and Microsoft have been exploring a strategic alliance since 2021, aimed at supporting Sega's 'super game' strategy. Meanwhile, Microsoft's attempted acquisition of Activision Blizzard is ongoing, with the goal of enhancing its mobile presence.
