Green Game Jam Surpasses $600,000 in Fundraising This Year

The fourth annual Green Game Jam, organized by the Playing for the Planet Alliance, has successfully raised $600,000 for its wildlife-themed initiative this year. Established in 2019, the jam encourages game studios to integrate tangible environmental actions into their existing games, promoting climate awareness through in-game activities. This year's award winners have been announced, with recipients including: UNEP Choice: Boom Beach by Supercell, Best Newcomer: Tray Racers! by Bitloom Games, Media's Choice: Boom Beach by Supercell, Player's Choice: June's Journey by Wooga, Best in Wildlife: June's Journey by Wooga, Jam Spirit Award: Pac-Man by Bandai Namco and QuizDuel, WordBrain, Ruzzle, Word Domination by MAG Interactive, Google's Choice: Love & Pies by Trailmix, Industry's Choice and Most Adoptable: My Talking Angela 2 by Outfit7. According to Sam Barratt, Chief of Youth, Education, and Advocacy at the UN Environment Programme, the quality of nominations and the studios' enthusiasm have been impressive, and it is encouraging to see more studios incorporating green activations into their games, aligning with the long-term vision of the Green Game Jam.
