Original story, June 27, 2023: Hi-Rez Studios has initiated a significant restructuring process, culminating in a series of layoffs. The company announced the changes on LinkedIn, stating that the goal of the restructuring is to refocus the business on its core priorities and establish a more robust framework for future growth. As part of this transformation, Hi-Rez will rebrand as Hi-Rez Ventures, comprising three independent business units: Titan Forge Games, the developer of Smite, co-led by Alex Cantatore and Travis Brown; Evil Mojo Games, the developer of Paladins, led by Tony Jones; and RallyHere Interactive, a live service support platform established earlier this year, led by former Hi-Rez Studios CEO Stewart Chisam. The UK-based RedBeard Games, which opened in 2019, will be integrated into Titan Forge, while the US developer First Watch Games, responsible for Rogue Company, will merge with Evil Mojo. The company will cease to operate as a publisher under the Hi-Rez Studios brand, instead transitioning to a model where games will be published through either Titan Forge or Evil Mojo. Hi-Rez Studios founder Erez Goren will assume the role of CEO at the newly formed Hi-Rez Ventures, replacing Chisam. Unfortunately, this strategic realignment will result in a reduction in force, affecting numerous dedicated and talented game developers.
