US Gaming Revenue Sees 12% Uptick in May

In May, US gaming expenditure reached $4 billion, marking a 12% year-over-year increase, as per Circana's latest data. The software segment garnered $3.6 billion, representing a 9% rise from the previous year. Meanwhile, hardware spending experienced a significant 56% year-over-year boost, totaling $338 million, the highest May figure since 2008 when it reached $427 million. The Nintendo Switch emerged as the top-selling platform in terms of dollar sales, with its spending and unit sales hitting all-time highs for the month. Accessory sales also saw a 14% year-over-year increase, amounting to $159 million, with the PlayStation 5 Dual Sense Edge Wireless Controller Black being the top-selling accessory. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom debuted as the best-selling game, followed by Warner Bros.' Hogwarts and EA's Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
