E3 2024 and 2025: Plans Still Under Discussion

The Entertainment Software Association has dismissed rumors that E3 2024 and 2025 have been cancelled, stating that discussions are ongoing. This clarification came after a post on ResetEra referenced a Los Angeles Tourism Board of Commissioners update that seemed to imply the cancellation of the next two E3 events. In response to a query from GamesIndustry.biz, an ESA spokesperson revealed that the organization is engaged in conversations about E3 2024 and beyond, emphasizing that no final decisions have been made at this time. The spokesperson's statement follows the cancellation of E3 2023, which was attributed to factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on game development and economic challenges that made companies hesitant to invest in large-scale marketing events. At the time of the cancellation, ESA president and CEO Stanley Pierre-Louis expressed commitment to providing an industry platform but noted the need to strike a balance that meets the industry's needs. While E3 2023 was cancelled, several independent games events that were scheduled to run alongside it, including Summer Game Fest, Xbox Games Showcase, and Ubisoft Forward, proceeded as planned.
