Xbox Delays AR/VR Expansion Until Audience Grows
Matt Booty, Head of Xbox Games Studios, has stated that the company is holding off on expanding into AR/VR gaming until a sizable audience emerges. In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Booty discussed various topics including the cross-media expansion of video games. When asked about Xbox's potential move into VR, Booty noted that while the company has achieved significant success with 10 games having over 10 million players, the scale required for success in AR/VR is not yet present. Booty also shared insights on Microsoft's cloud gaming advancements, describing the current state as not yet a fully formed market due to its limited audience size and cloud technology utilization.
