Veteran Game Writer Steve Ince Reveals Plans to Retire

Acclaimed writer Steve Ince, known for his work on the Broken Sword series, has announced his decision to retire from the video game industry. The news comes as Ince approaches the official UK retirement age in February 2024, marking the end of a 31-year career. In a statement on social media, Ince expressed that after much contemplation, he has chosen to step away from video game development to focus on his passion for writing, particularly children's books. Throughout his career, Ince has been involved in a wide range of projects, starting as an animator on Beneath a Steel Sky and later transitioning into writing with Broken Sword: The Smoking Mirror. In addition to his writing credits, Ince has also worked as a designer and producer on various gaming titles, with his most recent credits including Resident Evil Village, Tears of Avia, and The Bunker.
