Dan Houser Unveils Absurd Ventures
Following a three-year hiatus from Rockstar Games, Dan Houser has re-emerged at the helm of Absurd Ventures, a novel enterprise focused on crafting immersive universes and compelling narratives across various mediums. "Our goal with Absurd Ventures is to create captivating stories that transcend platforms," Houser stated, outlining the company's ambition to develop intellectual properties for video games, live-action productions, animated series, books, graphic novels, and scripted podcasts. Headquartered in Santa Monica, California, Absurd Ventures adopts the motto, "Finally, an American institution everyone can hate." Houser's departure from Rockstar Games was initially announced in the spring of 2019, with his formal exit confirmed by parent company Take-Two Interactive in March 2020. As co-founder of Rockstar, Houser played a pivotal role in shaping the company's most iconic franchises, including Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption. Although Absurd Ventures' existence was first disclosed in 2021 through incorporation documents filed under the name "Absurd Ventures in Games," this marks the company's first public statement.
