FunPlus Faces New Class Action Lawsuit Over Alleged Deceptive Advertising Practices

A recent class action lawsuit has been initiated against mobile game developer and publisher FunPlus, along with its subsidiary KingsGroup, over claims of false advertising in their title King of Avalon. The lawsuit alleges that the companies engaged in deceptive practices by making it appear as though in-game purchases had been significantly discounted, when in reality the 'sale' prices were the original prices. This lawsuit, taken on by the New York-based firm Pollock Cohen LLP, is investigating whether FunPlus and KingsGroup misled customers into buying game items at supposedly discounted rates that did not actually exist. The firm invites players who made in-game purchases to come forward and join the lawsuit. Similar accusations were made against FunPlus in October 2022 regarding their game State of Survival, and in 2018, the UK's Advertising Standards Agency ruled that a King of Avalon advertisement was misleading, prompting its withdrawal. In a recent development, Pollock Cohen LLP has expanded its investigation to include potential class action lawsuits against two other FunPlus titles, Guns of Glory and State of Survival: Zombie War, over identical allegations of deceptive advertising practices.
