Microsoft Expects $1 Billion in PC Gaming Revenue This Year

According to Phil Spencer, Xbox's chief, the company is set to generate $1 billion in revenue from PC games this year. This statement was made during a panel discussion where Spencer noted that the Xbox business has grown significantly since the Xbox 360 era, partly due to its expansion onto other platforms, including PC. Spencer emphasized the company's goal of attracting new players and creators to the gaming industry, which will benefit the entire sector, not just Xbox. He pointed out that the current revenue is twice the size it was during the Xbox 360 generation and that the number of Xbox players has never been higher. The company announced its biggest non-holiday gaming quarter in history last quarter, with a focus on finding new players and creators, including on PC. Spencer also mentioned that the PC market was a key factor in the decision to acquire Activision Blizzard, which is currently facing regulatory hurdles. Additionally, Matt Booty, Microsoft Studios boss, stated that the firm has ten games with over ten million players and boasts more than 150 million monthly active users across its portfolio of titles, including Minecraft, Elder Scrolls, and Forza.
