Improbable Offloads Defense Arm to Investor Group
Improbable, a leading tech company, has revealed the sale of its defense subsidiary to a consortium of investors led by Noia Capital. Established in 2012, Improbable specializes in creating immersive experiences, collaborating with game developers, entertainment companies, and academic institutions. The acquisition includes the transfer of approximately 70 engineers and modelers, as well as contracts with the UK Ministry of Defence, among others. The terms of the deal remain undisclosed. The transaction is subject to review by the UK government and is expected to be finalized within the next three to six months. According to Peter Lipka, Improbable's Chief Operating Officer, 'We are delighted to have spun out our defense business, which we launched in 2018 and have since developed into a proven capability.' Lipka expressed confidence that with Noia's support, the business is poised for success as a prime contractor in the UK market. This move follows Improbable's sale of its majority stake in Inflexion Games to Tencent and the sale of Midwinter Entertainment, the studio behind the multiplayer game Scavengers, to Behaviour Interactive, both of which occurred last year.
