Summer Game Fest Unveils Exciting New Releases, Including Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Prince of Persia
The Summer Game Fest event, hosted by Geoff Keighley, kicked off with a bang, showcasing an array of new games and updates. Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, a 2D action platformer, was unveiled, with a release date set for January 18, 2024. The event concluded with a highly anticipated trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which is slated for an early 2024 release on two discs. Square Enix also announced Final Fantasy 7 Evercrisis, a mobile game, with registration for a closed beta test now open. Other notable reveals included Sega's Sonic Superstars, a 2D Sonic game with multiplayer, and Bandai Namco's Sand Land, a collaboration with renowned manga creator Akira Toriyama. Saber Interactive and Focus Home Interactive debuted John Carpenter's Toxic Commando, a zombie shooter set for release next year. Additionally, Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, a game focused on exploring the iconic mines, was showcased, along with Star Trek: Infinite, which is set in The Next Generation era. The event also highlighted new indie games, including Yes Your Grace: Snowfall and Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior. Furthermore, Capcom announced an Exoprimal-Street Fighter 6 crossover, featuring robotic versions of Ryu and Guile. The show featured appearances by Nicolas Cage and the cast of Netflix's The Witcher series, as well as extended looks at Mortal Kombat 1, Spider-Man 2, and Alan Wake 2. Other games showcased included Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Warzone Season 4, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, and Honkai Star Rail, among many others.
