Veteran Gaming Executive Bob Rice Passes Away

Bob Rice, the founder and CEO of Four Bars Intertainment, has passed away at the age of 79. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Rice. With a rich background in music and marketing, Rice ventured into the gaming industry in 1982, creating the groundbreaking Journey Escape, the first rock and roll video game for the Atari 2600, where he also served as executive producer. A decade later, he established Four Bars Intertainment, a company that represented esteemed composers behind iconic franchises such as God of War, Mass Effect, and Guitar Hero, including notable clients like Inon Zur, Steve Ouimette, and Sascha Dikiciyan. Rice's professional journey also included a stint in the film industry, where he collaborated with his late sister, Patti Zimitti, a respected music contractor in Hollywood. He has been fondly remembered and eulogized by his clients and colleagues. "Bob was a true legend, a genius, and a pioneer in every sense, whose passion, creativity, and compassion inspired countless individuals. He will be deeply missed but his legacy will live on in our hearts and memories," said Tommy Tallarico, composer and founder of the Game Audio Network Guild, reflecting on the profound impact Rice had on those who knew him.
