Streamlining Game Porting: Apple's New Toolkit for Windows to Mac Conversion
At the Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple unveiled its Game Porting Toolkit, designed to simplify the process of porting Windows games to Mac devices. According to The Verge, this toolkit allows developers to test an unmodified Windows game on a Mac, assessing its performance before initiating the porting process. The toolkit provides a means for developers to assess the effort required for porting, identify and resolve bugs, and optimize game performance on macOS. As stated by Apple's Aiswariya Sreenivassan, "It enables rapid evaluation of a game's graphics feature usage and potential performance when run on a Mac." Furthermore, the Game Porting Toolkit supports games using DirectX 12, such as The Medium.
