The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Secures Fourth Consecutive Top Spot in UK Boxed Charts
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom achieves its fourth consecutive number one spot in the UK boxed charts. In terms of boxed sales, it is now the third best-selling Zelda game in UK chart history, surpassing the N64 release of Ocarina of Time from 1998 and ranking behind 2017's Breath of the Wild and 2006's Twilight Princess. Globally, Nintendo reported 10 million sales over a single weekend, making it the second best-selling Zelda game of all time, behind Breath of the Wild, with Nintendo's data including digital sales. The game maintains its top position, comfortably outperforming Street Fighter 6, which debuts at number two in the UK charts. Street Fighter 6's physical sales are not as strong as expected, especially when compared to Capcom's Resident Evil games. However, the majority of its sales are expected to come from digital channels. The game's boxed sales were predominantly on PS5, accounting for 79%, followed by Xbox at 13%, and PS4 at 8%. When digital sales are included, Xbox's share is expected to increase. Other notable movements in the charts include FIFA 23 dropping to number three, Hogwarts Legacy falling to number four despite an 11% sales increase, and Mario Kart 8: Deluxe decreasing to number five with a 10% sales increase. Company of Heroes 3: Console Edition is the only new release in the charts, debuting at number 32. Recent releases such as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and LEGO 2K Drive have seen sales declines, while Farming Simulator 23 on Switch experienced a 6% increase in sales during its second week.
