Antimatter Games, Developer of IGI Origins, to Cease Operations this Summer
Antimatter Games, a UK-based game development studio, is set to close down in the coming months. Its parent company, Enad Global 7, made the announcement after exploring various strategic alternatives to keep the studio operational. These options included transitioning the studio to a work-for-hire model, seeking a potential buyer, or securing a third-party publisher for the studio's first-person shooter, IGI Origins. However, none of these alternatives yielded sufficient progress within the desired timeframe, prompting EG7 to initiate the closure process as part of its ongoing efforts to boost predictability and profitability. The shutdown is anticipated to occur during the summer, with an employee consultation process already underway. This move is expected to result in a yearly cost savings of SEK 50 million ($4.6 million) for EG7. Antimatter Games, established in 2013 by former developers of Rising Storm, is known for being the largest game development team in the South West of the UK, with a team of 52 employees listed on its LinkedIn page. The studio has developed notable titles such as Rising Storm 2 and has contributed to the Killing Floor series and 2K's Evolve. Further information on the impact of the closure on staff and the status of IGI Origins is being sought.
