Kabam, Publisher of Marvel Contest of Champions, Announces Staff Reductions

Kabam, the company behind popular titles such as Disney Mirrorverse and Marvel Contest of Champions, has confirmed that it will be letting go of 12% of its staff. According to a report by Kotaku's Ethan Gach, the decision was made public yesterday. In an official statement, Kabam explained that the move is a response to the current economic climate and the state of the gaming industry, saying, "After reviewing our strategic priorities, we have made the difficult decision to reduce our workforce by 12 percent in order to gain greater financial flexibility and invest in new areas of growth, while also streamlining our existing development teams." The company expressed gratitude to the departing employees and assured that support will be provided during this transition. This is not the first time Kabam has undergone staff reductions, having laid off nearly 35 employees in November last year. The gaming industry has seen a wave of job cuts, with recent examples including Relic Entertainment, which let go of 121 staff members, and Brace Yourself Games, which also announced an undisclosed number of layoffs.
