CD Projekt Reduces Staff at The Molasses Flood by 29

CD Projekt has officially announced a series of layoffs at The Molasses Flood. The news initially surfaced on Twitter on May 12 through posts by affected employees, and has now been confirmed by the company to PC Gamer. According to a spokesperson, 'As the project underwent changes, the team composition also evolved, primarily on The Molasses Flood's side.' The layoffs comprise 21 US-based team members and 8 in Poland, totaling 29 employees. This accounts for roughly half of The Molasses Flood's workforce, which numbered around 60 when the studio began working on Project Sirius last year. CD Projekt acquired the studio in October 2021 for an undisclosed sum, following the unveiling of multiple new projects, including Project Sirius, The Molasses Flood's interpretation of the Witcher series. Earlier this year, CD Projekt Red wrote off over $7 million in development costs for Project Sirius and rebooted the project.
