UK Sales of Xbox Series S and X Surpass 2 Million Mark, Outpacing Nintendo Switch
According to data from GfK, the Xbox Series S and X have collectively sold over two million units in the UK, accomplishing this milestone in 128 weeks and garnering £696 million in revenue. This places the console as the eighth fastest-selling home console in UK history, narrowly edging out the Nintendo Switch, which took 140 weeks to reach the same sales figure. The Xbox One remains the fastest-selling Xbox console, reaching two million sales in 104 weeks. Notably, the Xbox Series S and X faced significant stock constraints due to component shortages during their initial two years on the market. For comparison, the Xbox 360 took 110 weeks to sell two million units, while the original Xbox required 162 weeks. Historically, the Nintendo Wii holds the record for the fastest-selling home console in the UK, achieving two million sales in just 57 weeks, followed closely by the PlayStation 2. However, by the end of their respective generation, the Xbox 360 ultimately outsold the Wii. More recently, the PlayStation 5 reached two million sales in the UK within a shorter timeframe, securing its position as the fourth fastest-selling home console in history.
