Deviation Studios Hit by Significant Layoffs Affecting Up to 90 Employees

Reports have emerged that Deviation Games, an independent AAA game development studio, has undergone a round of layoffs. Several team members have taken to social media to announce their departure from the studio, including key personnel such as principal technical artist Christopher Berry, associate producer Jared Bailey, and software engineer Kyle Perras. According to Perras, the layoffs were a result of the studio facing a challenging situation. Sources indicate that as many as 90 staff members may have been impacted. Founded in 2021 by former Call of Duty developers, including Dave Anthony and Jason Blundell, who led the Black Ops team, Deviation Games initially made headlines by announcing a partnership with PlayStation to develop an original IP. The studio's leadership saw a change in September 2022, when Blundell departed.
