Bungie Secures $12 Million in Damages from Destiny 2 Cheat Vendor

In a significant legal victory, Bungie has been awarded $12 million in damages in a lawsuit against the owner of VeteranCheats, a seller of cheats for Destiny 2. The lawsuit, which was initially filed in 2021, was decided in Bungie's favor by a US District Court on April 26, with the court ruling that the owner of VeteranCheats, Mihai Claudiu-Florentin, had committed copyright infringement and violated the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Additionally, the court found that Claudiu-Florentin had also interfered with Bungie's contractual relationships with other Destiny 2 users. This outcome marks the latest in a series of successful lawsuits by Bungie against cheat sellers, including a recent win against AimJunkies and a default judgment against LaviCheats for $6.7 million. Bungie has also announced plans to take action against third-party peripherals used for cheating in Destiny 2, demonstrating the company's commitment to maintaining a fair gaming environment.
