Epic Games Expands to Latin America with Acquisition of Aquiris
Epic Games has taken over Aquiris, a prominent mobile game development studio, and launched Epic Games Brasil as its first venture in Latin America. Founded in 2007 by Amilton Diesel, Mauricio Longoni, and Israel Mendes, Aquiris is based in Brazil and has developed notable titles including Wonderbox, Horizon Chase 2, and Looney Tunes: World of Mayhem, all of which will continue to be managed by the studio. This acquisition comes a year after Epic Games announced its investment in Aquiris. According to Mauricio Longoni, now the studio director of Epic Games Brasil, "Leveraging our expertise in using Unreal Engine for game development will enable us to contribute to the future of Fortnite." Longoni expressed his excitement about the opportunity to highlight the region's developers. Alain Tascan, Epic's executive vice president of game development, also stated, "The establishment of Epic Games Brasil allows us to tap into the region's vast talent pool and solidify our presence in Latin America."
