Nintendo Emerges Victorious in Court Case Against Game Piracy Site

The Paris Court of Appeals has ruled in favor of Nintendo in its dispute with Dstorage, the operator of a file-hosting website. According to Nintendo, the court determined that Dstorage was responsible for failing to remove or restrict access to unauthorized copies of Nintendo games hosted on 1fichier.com. Nintendo had previously requested that Dstorage remove the infringing content, but when this was not done, the company pursued legal action. The Paris Judicial Court had previously reached the same verdict in May 2021. The Court of Appeals has now ordered Dstorage to pay Nintendo €442,750 in compensation, in addition to €25,000 to cover legal costs. Dstorage has the option to appeal the decision.
