Gamefam Resolves Labor Dispute Over Employee Pay Discussion

Gamefam has reached a settlement with a National Labor Relations Board complaint filed by developer Joshua DeBoer, who alleged that the company retaliated against him for discussing salary concerns with colleagues. According to reports, DeBoer will receive a $5,000 bonus, and the studio will reiterate its employees' rights to them. The issue began when DeBoer, who had taken on additional responsibilities, discovered that he and other colleagues were being paid below-market rates for their positions. After bringing this to the attention of CEO Joe Ferencz, DeBoer claims he was told to refrain from spreading dissatisfaction among his coworkers if he wanted to remain at the company. He was subsequently placed on paid leave. The settlement was reached months after DeBoer initially filed his complaint with the NLRB in January. Gamefam, founded in 2019, creates content for platforms such as Roblox, Fortnite, and Minecraft, including popular titles like Sonic Speed Simulator and Minecraft Central. The company announced a $25 million investment and expansion of its workforce to over 100 employees last year.
