Amazon Cuts Nearly 100 Gaming Division Jobs Amid Ongoing Restructuring

As part of its company-wide restructuring efforts, Amazon has reduced its gaming division workforce by nearly 100 employees. According to Bloomberg, the layoffs affect staff members at Prime Gaming, Game Growth, and the San Diego studio. In an internal memo, Amazon Games VP Christoph Hartmann stated that despite the cuts, the company will continue to invest in its in-house development and expects its teams to expand as projects progress. This move comes after Amazon announced in March that it would be eliminating around 9,000 positions, including over 400 roles at Twitch. Earlier in January, the company had already laid off 18,000 employees as part of its operational reassessment under CEO Andy Jassy.
