Dispute Erupts Between Dark Deception Developer and Monster Energy Over Trademark

The developer of the 2020 game Dark Deception: Monsters and Mortals, Glowstick Entertainment, is embroiled in a dispute with Monster Energy over the use of the term 'monster' in the game's title. According to the company's CEO, Vincent Livings, Monster Energy is engaging in 'bullying' tactics by threatening litigation. Livings has stated that Monster Energy is notorious for its aggressive trademark enforcement and has a history of targeting game studios with costly lawsuits. The energy drink company allegedly claims that the game's title is 'confusingly similar' to its own brand. As part of a proposed settlement, Monster Energy has demanded that Glowstick Entertainment agree not to use the word 'monster' in any future game titles. This is not the first time Monster Energy has taken action against a game developer, having previously challenged Ubisoft's trademark for the game Gods & Monsters, which was subsequently renamed Immortals: Fenyx Rising.
