Street Fighter Film and TV Ventures Announced
Capcom has confirmed the development of a new live-action Street Fighter film and television series. The publisher is teaming up with Legendary Entertainment, known for productions like Dune and Godzilla vs. Kong. According to Capcom, adapting its gaming content into films and TV shows offers a chance to increase brand visibility beyond the gaming market. This move comes as the video game industry expands its multimedia presence, with recent successes like HBO's The Last of Us, which was renewed for a second season, and the newly released animated Super Mario Bros. film from Nintendo and Illumination. Meanwhile, Capcom's latest fighting game installment, Street Fighter 6, is scheduled for release on June 2.
