Justin Roiland Cleared of Felony Charges
Charges of domestic violence against Justin Roiland have been withdrawn. According to a report by Polygon, the dismissal was due to a lack of sufficient evidence to support the claims beyond a reasonable doubt. This development comes several months after Roiland, co-founder of Squanch Games, faced allegations related to an incident in January 2020 involving a partner. In response to the dismissal, Roiland posted a statement on Twitter, saying, "From the start, I was confident that these allegations were untrue, and I had no doubt that the truth would eventually come to light." The co-creator of Rick and Morty added, "Now that the legal matter has been resolved, my focus is on moving forward, pursuing my creative endeavors, and restoring my reputation." On January 18, Roiland stepped down as CEO of Squanch Games, and Adult Swim, the distributor of the Rick and Morty TV series, also severed ties with him.
