Bleak Faith Developers Deny Allegations of Using Elden Ring Animations Without Permission
Archangel Studios, the development team behind Bleak Faith: Forsaken, has addressed recent accusations of using Elden Ring animations without proper authorization. The controversy began when a Dark Souls modder, known as Meowmaritus, posted a comparison highlighting similarities between the two games. In response, an Archangel Studios developer explained that the animations were purchased from the Epic Marketplace, emphasizing transparency in their use of third-party assets. However, the developer also acknowledged concerns about the legitimacy of the seller and the rights to the animations. Following an investigation, Epic Games stated that while sellers warrant they have the necessary rights to their content, the company cannot independently verify these claims. Unsatisfied with this response, Archangel Studios has decided to replace the disputed assets, a move intended to demonstrate good faith and respect for intellectual property rights. This decision reflects the studio's commitment to ethical game development practices, particularly important for small, independent creators relying on third-party resources.
