Roblox Unfazed by Silicon Valley Bank Collapse, Held $150m in Deposits
Roblox Corporation has disclosed that it had $150 million deposited at Silicon Valley Bank, which recently collapsed. However, the company has assured that this will not affect its operations. In a recent SEC filing, Roblox revealed that 5% of its total $3 billion in cash and securities, as of February 28, 2023, was held at SVB. The company stated, 'The situation will have no impact on our day-to-day operations, regardless of the outcome.' This comes after US financial regulators shut down Silicon Valley Bank on Sunday. The bank's struggles were reportedly due to rising interest rates and clients withdrawing their funds. Although this is one of the largest bank collapses in US history, with Signature Bank also closing on Sunday, the Federal Reserve has introduced emergency measures to ensure depositors like Roblox can access their funds. Furthermore, banks will be able to borrow unlimited amounts from the Federal Reserve throughout 2023, provided they are backed by safe government securities.
