Forspoken Sales Disappoint Square Enix
Square Enix, the publisher behind the Final Fantasy series, has expressed disappointment over the sales performance of Forspoken. This admission was made by company president Yosuke Matsuda during a financial results briefing, where he noted that the game's reviews have been difficult to navigate. Despite this, Matsuda highlighted that Forspoken has received praise for its action elements, including parkour and combat, which will inform and improve the development of future games. The game's reception has been mixed, with some critics appreciating its narrative while others have criticized the writing of its Black female protagonist. In a related development, Luminous Productions, the studio behind Forspoken, is set to be absorbed into Square Enix on May 1, having operated as an independent subsidiary until then.
