YouTube Relaxes Its Stance on Profanity

YouTube has revised its community guidelines, easing the restrictions on profanity in videos. The previous policy, introduced in November 2022 and enforced from January 2023, sparked controversy among creators as it led to a surge in demonetized content. The updated rules now permit videos with moderate profanity to be monetized, while those containing strong profanity may be eligible for limited monetization, depending on factors such as the timing and frequency of the language used. However, using profanity in video titles or thumbnails will still result in demonetization. YouTube will review and reassess videos that were previously demonetized under the old policy by March 10.
