Rovio Explains Delisting of Original Angry Birds Due to Search Result Interference

Rovio has elaborated on its decision to delist the classic Angry Birds game, citing its negative impact on the discoverability of other titles in the series. According to Ben Mattes, Rovio's head of Angry Birds strategy, the original game's presence in search results was deterring users from finding and downloading other Angry Birds titles. Despite efforts to rebrand the game as Rovio Classics: AB and removing 'Angry Birds' from its metadata, the issue persisted. The game has been rebranded as Red's First Flight on iOS, and its performance will determine whether it returns to Android or is also removed from iOS. Rovio initially delisted Angry Birds in February, citing its detrimental effect on the company's broader gaming portfolio.
